Caitlin, Bath (Downside) Assistant Activities Manager 2018
"Having never done anything like it before, the prospect of working at a summer camp was a tad daunting but the diverse range of people you come into contact with make is effortless to get involved and feel right at home.
The students are incredible. Their passion for learning English never ceases to amaze me, especially from the juniors. It is incredibly rewarding to be a part of something that students will remember for the rest of their lives. I've seen student progress from speaking only a little English to holding conversations, not just with fellow students but with native speakers.
The teamwork from all the staff is phenomenal and you become part of a slightly odd and diverse family. You keep each other going through the hard work and more often than not you are making friends for life from all around the world.
My fondest memory from over the years is the charity night we held this last summer. The evening saw activities from penalty shootout to lucky dip to water balloon target practice (at the staff) being hosted. The students and staff submerged themselves into activities and we raised a staggering amount for schools overseas. I was privileged to be part of a community that was so heart-warmingly caring for each other and conscious of those who are not as privileged.
Working for Kings allows one to be part of a professional and highly motivated team that continues to deliver excellence in their programmes. It is hard work and you sometimes have to think outside the box but I cannot recommend the experience enough. It can seem a little mad when you first start, but it wouldn't be as nearly enjoyable any other way."
